Our Story
Church History and Root
Shalom Centre is a parish of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), a global Christian movement founded in Lagos, Nigeria in 1952 under the leadership of Pastor Josiah Akindayomi, and now led by the General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye. Today, RCCG is present in over 190 nations worldwide, with more than 40,000 parishes.
Shalom Centre was planted in Thornhill, Ontario, Canada as a faith-based non-profit church with a vision to bring God’s peace, purpose, and power to individuals and families in our community. We are committed to sharing the love of Christ through:

The name “Shalom”, meaning Peace, reflects our desire to see lives transformed by God’s presence, restored in His peace, and empowered to fulfill their God-given purpose. Psalms 29:11 “The LORD will give strength to His people; The LORD will bless His people with peace.”

Pastor Udy Ekong
Pastor Uduakobong Ekong is the Lead Pastor of RCCG Shalom Centre, Thornhill, Ontario. She is passionate about preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, teaching biblical truths, and helping people discover their God-given purpose.
She is also an experienced teacher with over 30 years of experience, specializing in Special Education. With a strong desire to impact her generation, she serves as a prolific advocate for children with special needs, believing that every child is a gift from God who deserves love, dignity, and opportunities to thrive.
Her ministry is marked by a heart of compassion for individuals and families from all walks of life. While reaching everyone with the message of hope, she carries a special burden to intercede for:
- Families trusting God for children, - Expectant parents, and - Children with unique needs.
She firmly believes that every life matters and that God’s peace, purpose, and power are available to transform and uplift all who come to Him.
Pastor Udy is happily married to Dr. Samuel Ekong for 30 years, they are blessed with four adorable children.
